Brief Notes from 4-5-08

-  If you're brave, Edwin Jackson gave up just one ER to the Yankees surrendering 5 hits and 2 BB in 6 innings.  I would wait a couple more starts before jumping on someone like this.

-  Andy Pettitte should have taken more time off (5.0 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 2BB, and 2 hit batters)
-  B.J. Upton stole his first base of the season.
-  Derrek Lee is off to a nice start, going 4-4 and hitting his second HR.
-  Speedster Michael Bourn has 4 SB now and Hunter Pence stole his first.
-  Alfonso Soriano is 1-22.
-  Roy Oswalt got knocked around and is 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA.
-  Need some cheap speed?  Dan Ortmeier and Brian Bobcock of the Giants both stole 2 bags.
-  Everyone's favorite Eric Gagne replacement, David Riske, pitched 1.2 innings allowing 2 H, 2 BB, and an ER.  Gagne pitched a perfect 9th inning.
-  Manny Parra struck out 7 in 5.1 innings picking up the W.
-  David Ortiz is 2-22 with just 2 RBI.
-  Jay Bruce owners weren't happy to see Corey Patterson steal a base and hit a HR.
-  Nick Johnson hit his first HR going 3-4.
-  Livan Hernandez picked up his second win going 7 innings.  He doesn't strike people out and shouldn't win many games on the Twins though so don' get too excited.
-  Dontrelle Willis gave up one hit, but walked 7 in 5 innings.
-  Nick Swisher showed why he is batting leadoff despite his lack of speed, walking three times.
-  Jake Peavy has the game of the year so far (CG, 2 H, 8 K's, 1 ER 1 BB)
-  Russell Martin is 1-19.
-  Kelly Johnson hit a pinch hit grand slam.
-  Keith Foulke has 6 K's in 5 IP, he may be a good setup man to keep an eye on with the way Huston Street is pitching.
-  Oakland's Dana Eveland pitched 7 innings giving up only one ER and striking out 7.
-  Richie Sexson was 0-4 with 3 K's.
-  Nate McLouth is hitting .391 an stole his second base.
-  Chris B. Young had 2 HR.
-  Willy Taveras went 0-5 with 3 K's.
