Brief Notes from 4-7-08

-Bronson Arroyo was tagged for four homeruns, 2 by Pat Burrell in 5.2 innings.

-Brandon Phillips stole his first base of the year.

-Edwin Encarnacion has 2 hits in 20 AB’s.

-2B Mark DeRosa is doing his best to keep Brian Roberts in Baltimore, hitting .320 with 4 extra base hits.

-If you started Ted Lilly or Tom Gorzelanny their combined numbers: 6 IP, 12 ER, 13 H, 6 BB, 3 K’s. You may want to see a good start from these two before throwing them back out there.

-Carlos Marmol got the save as Kerry Wood was given the day off. Even if Wood keeps the job all year Marmol should be good for 10 + saves.

-Daniel Cabrera should be nowhere near your roster, even in AL only leagues. He has given up 11 hits, 9 BB and 10 ER in 10 IP this year.

-OF Luke Scott has 8 hits in 16 AB’s.

-Carlos Gomez stole his fifth base of the season.

-Joe Crede has 10 RBI and 2 HR.

-Javier Vazquez struck out 8 in 7 IP to ease his owners’ nerves after his first start of the year. Don’t expect any better than third starter numbers from him though.

Pitching like its 1999: Greg Maddux (7.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K’s) Tom Glavine (6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 K’s)

-Matt Holliday homered for the second straight game.

-Wandy Rodriguez pitched 7 1/3 innings allowing just 3 hits, no runs, and striking out 6.

-Hunter Pence went 0-4 with 3 K’s and is hitting .171.

-Bobby Abreu walked, singled, tripled and homered in the Yankees 6-1 win over the Rays.

-Mike Mussina pitched well (6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K’s), but pick him up at your own risk as he’s likely to blow up in his next start.

-Jon Rauch gave up a 2-run homer in the 9th inning.

-Hanley Ramirez continues to produce at the top of the Marlins’ lineup hitting his 2nd homerun and raising his average to .440.

-Mark Reynolds hit his 3rd and 4th HR and Chris Young hit his 4th. They are tied with Torii Hunter for the major league lead.

-The Angels attempted 6 SB and were successful 5 times against Victor Martinez.

-Joe Borowski had one of his blow-up games giving up a grand slam to Hunter in the 9th. His current ERA: 19.29.
