Here are a few of the two start pitchers that have favorable matchups this week:
-Dan Haren-ARI- Monday Haren will be facing Esteban Loaiza and the Dodgers and on Saturday the Rockies and Ubaldo Jimenez. The Rockies gotten off to a slow start with the bats and Loaiza doesn't scare anyone. Both games are in LA too.
-Matt Cain-SF- Man does the Giants offense suck. Good thing they're going up against a couple of mediocre pitchers this week. Cain will go up against Greg Maddux on Monday and Todd Wellemeyer and the Cardinals on Saturday. Both games are in SF.
-Javier Vazquez-CHW- Vazquez gets the Twins and Nick Blackburn on Monday. I like what I saw from Blackburn but the Sox offense is pounding the ball right now. He'll face Kenny Rogers on Sunday. Hot Sox offense vs. cold Detroit offense. Both of these games are also at home for Vazquez.
-Oliver Perez-NYM- Perez will be going up a couple of old timers in Jamie Moyer and Jeff Suppan this week. Although he'll be facing a couple of tough offenses he should outpitch both off those guys. The Mets will host both games at Shea.
Other match ups I like this week:
-Dustin McGowan will be at home against the A's and Justin Duechscherer on Wednesday 4/9. Justin has some triceps problems so someone may have to pitch on short rest. Either way I like McGowan against the A's.
-Rich Hill will be facing the Pirates at PNC on Thursday 4/10. Hill has pitched well against the Pirates in his career and will be going up against aging vet Matt Morris. If the Cubs win just one game in this series, it will be this one.
-Adam Wainwright faces the Giants in SF on Thursday 4/10 and will be going head to head against Kevin Correia. Correia didn't fair too well in his first start and I think Wainwright will dominate the Giants in their ballpark.
-James Sheilds will be taking on Jeremy Guthrie and the Orioles on Friday 4/11. Guthrie looked pretty skiddish in his first start and Shields looked good. I like the Rays and Shields in this one in Tampa.
-Roy Oswalt will be facing Ricky Nolasco and the Marlins at Minute Maid on Friday 4/11. The Astros lineup is stacked and looking good so far. I like them in their home ballpark and I like Oswalt to dominate the Marlins on Friday.
