A Ray of Hope in San Fran

They're calling him "The Franchise" for a reason. He is one of the few bright spots that the San Francisco Giants have in their whole organization. Tim Lincecum was outstanding again last night against the San Diego Padres. He went six innings giving up only one ER while striking out seven. He did get into a little bit of trouble in the 6th inning but got out of a bases loaded jam. Brian Wilson blew a save that would have allowed Lincecum a well deserved win. Last night's outing brings his season stats to 10 IP, 1 W, 11 K, 5 BB, and a 1.80 ERA. The walks are a little bit of a concern but young pitchers are going to walk hitters, it's nothing to be alarmed about. His stuff was electric as usual on Tuesday and Lincecum will look to keep it going on Sunday against the Cardinals. Lincecum will be near the top tier of elite fantasy pitchers within the next couple of years. If he can improve his WHIP and if the Giants go out and get the help he needs in the run support he can be an ace on any one's team. It really looks funny to see this little kid go out there and dominate major league hitters but that's the kind of pitcher he is. The 168 lb. phenom is only going to get better. There is no rule that says you must be big to pitch and Lincecum is living proof. Hitters aren't intimidated of him until they face him for the first time. Then they realize why he's called "The Franchise".

He is a great pitcher. Of course I have him on my FBM team and his WHIP is nearly as high as his ERA. I wonder how they'll use him come September and how they'll limit his innings.

Good point Ward. The Giants will have nothing to play for at the end of the season and they will likely monitor his innings to make sure he is %100 come next spring.
