Week 2: April 7-April 13
These are players in 10 or 12 team mixed leagues that were either drafted very late and sit on your bench or may be found on the waiver wire. For leagues that have daily transactions you may want to consider plugging some of these guys in to grab an extra SB or two during the week. Both the opposing pitcher and catcher are taken into consideration when looking at these options, as well as the number of games played in a particular day.
Monday, April 7:
Greg Maddux is starting for the Padres so an interesting start may be SS Brian Bocock who is getting on base at a .526 clip and has 2 stolen bases already. Also 1B Dan Ortmeier has 2 SB. The Giants have to move runners over somehow and they seem to be running a lot so far.
The Yankees have allowed seven SB already this season and Rays OF Nathan Haynes has 2 so he may look to be running against the Yanks.
Tuesday & Wednesday April 8 & 9: All teams in action
Thursday, April 10:
Mark Hendrickson is starting for the Marlins and he has allowed a league leading 4 SB already so other than Milledge make sure Felipe Lopez is in your lineup.
Anyone can run on the Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield as he faces the Tigers today. Clete Thomas, subbing for the injured Curtis Granderson has one SB and may get the green light against Wakefield as well.
Rangers' catcher Gerald Laird had one of the worst percentages throwing out base runners last year, it was just better than Saltalamacchia. The Rangers play the Orioles and they can't do much so they might as well try to run. Look to pick up OF Adam Jones who has some speed if he's available.
Friday April 11-Sunday April 13: All teams in action
*SD Pitcher Chris Young is pitching on Saturday and between him and Josh Bard the Dodgers will be running wild. Look at 3B Brian DeWitt who has stolen a base and an OBP of .526.
